Good Morning!

The stock markets have started the new trading week very weakly. At the opening of the American stock exchanges, new records appeared on the price boards. Investors initially reacted enthusiastically to the reappointment of Fed Chairman Jerome Powell by Joe Biden. Not much later, interest rates started to rise sharply, causing shares to suddenly turn 180 degrees. The American 10-year yield climbed by more than 9 basis points to more than 1.63%.This caused a huge shock reaction, especially with the Nasdaq. The index opened one percent higher, but ended up closing 1.26% lower. The S&P 500 showed a similar picture, but was able to limit the loss to 0.32%. However, an ugly candle has been left behind on both charts. This bearish engulfing candle is marking the top for now and investors may need to anticipate more selling pressure. The S&P 500 future is already 0.29% lower and the Nasdaq is down another 0.41%.
