The trading session on May 25 on US stock exchanges closed in the green zone. The S&P 500 rose 0.95% to 3979, the Nasdaq added 1.51% and the Dow Jones 0.6%. All sectors included in the broad market index ended the day in positive territory. The growth leaders were the sector of cyclical consumer goods (+2.78%) and energy companies (+1.96%).Company news

  • Potential buyers of Kohl's (KSS: +11.89%) are ready to submit bids to acquire the retailer over the next two weeks, although Reuters reports that the offer price is down 10-15% on a correction in quotes and a weak quarterly report.   

  • Nvidia (NVDA: +5.08%) reported better than consensus, posting record revenue. However, the management presented a restrained guideline, noting the slowdown in the gaming segment and the negative impact of macroeconomic factors. In this regard, the company plans to slow down the expansion of the staff and reduce costs.

  • Deere & Co. (DE: +1.76%) increased its quarterly dividend by 8% to $1.13 per share, providing a forward yield of 1.33%.

Jefferies turned bullish on POINT Biopharma Global Inc. (PNT), upgrading the stock to "Buy" and assigning a $20.00 price target, representing potential upside of 178.55% from Wednesday's close.

Lululemon Athletica Inc. (LULU) has won the favor of Morgan Stanley's equity research team. The firm upgraded the shares from Equal-Weight to Overweight and moved their price target to $303.00, suggesting 16.24% additional upside for the stock.

TuSimple Holdings Inc. (TSP) received an upgrade from analysts at China Renaissance, who also set their one-year price target on the stock to $15.50. They changed their rating on TSP to Buy from Hold in a recently issued research note.

Earlier Thursday Stifel reduced its rating on Hoegh LNG Partners LP (HMLP) stock to Hold from Buy and assigned the price target to $9.25.

BMO Capital analysts reduced their investment ratings, saying in research reports covered by the media that its rating for Robert Half International Inc. (RHI) has been changed to Market Perform from Outperform and the new price target is set at $80.00.

Analysts at JP Morgan downgraded ProPetro Holding Corp. (PUMP)'s stock to Underweight from Overweight Thursday.

Top US earnings releases scheduled for today include Macy's Inc. (NYSE:M). It will announce its Apr 2022 financial results. The company is expected to report earnings of $0.82 per share from revenues of $5.33B in the three-month period.

Analysts expect Alibaba Group Holding Limited (NYSE: BABA) to report a net income (adjusted) of $1.1 per share when the company releases its quarterly results shortly. Revenue for the fiscal quarter ended Mar 2022 is predicted to come in at $29.94B.

Dollar General Corporation (DG), due to announce earnings before the market opens today, is expected to report earnings of $2.31 per share from revenues of $8.7B recently concluded three-month period.
