Good Afternoon!
Wall Street stocks advanced early Wednesday, digesting mixed results from retailers ahead of a closely watched report from artificial intelligence leader Nvidia.
Stocks have struggled to gain traction in August following a positive run in the first seven months of 2023. But yields on the 10-year US Treasury note – which have hit multi-year highs in recent days – retreated.
All eyes will be on the earnings report later today from chip company Nvidia.
Another eagerly awaited event this week is Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell's speech at a conference in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, scheduled for Friday.
As of 11:34 AM ET, the Dow was up +147.31 points, or +0.43%, at 34436.14. The Nasdaq Composite added +197.07 points, or +1.46%, at 13702.95. The S&P 500 rose +39.88 points, or +0.91%, at 4427.43. Among the 11 major S&P 500 sectors, 9 showed positive movement, with Communication Services leading the way with a 2.16% increase.
These stocks are flying well under the radar. But that may not be the case for long. The market may simply be overlooking a red-hot opportunity -- as they're doing with these three stocks.
