Stocks climbed on Tuesday, continuing the positive momentum as markets aim for back-to-back gains during the holiday week.

As of 11:30 AM ET, the Dow was up 191.4 points, or 0.4461%, at $43098.36. The Nasdaq Composite added 219.87 points, or 1.0225%, at $21723.0433. The S&P 500 rose 42.54 points, or 0.7121%, at $6016.62. Among the 11 major S&P 500 sectors, 11 showed positive movement, with Consumer Cyclical leading the way with a 1.08% increase.

Tuesday marks the beginning of the seasonal Santa Claus Rally, a historically strong period for the market. Since 1950, the S&P 500 has averaged a 1.3% return during the last five trading days of the year and the first two of January, far outpacing the average seven-day return of 0.3%, according to LPL Research.

In other news, American Airlines shares saw volatility after the carrier temporarily grounded all U.S. flights due to a technical issue on one of the busiest travel days of the year.
