US stocks moved down during mid-day trading on Tuesday as investors weighed concerns about a slowing economy following weaker-than-expected job growth last week. Last Friday, data from the US Labor Department revealed a rise in unemployment during August, coupled with a moderation in wage gains. These indicators suggest a cooling trend in the previously robust labor market.
However, Goldman Sachs sees a 15% chance of a US recession, as it believes inflation can be brought under control without a major economic contraction.
The S&P 500 declined on Tuesday, the first trading day of a holiday-shortened week, as investors weighed the impact of rising crude oil prices. Airline and cruise stocks were under pressure as oil prices rose, with American Airlines, United Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and Royal Caribbean all down more than 1%.
At 11:30 AM ET, the Dow was down -60.54 points, or -0.17%, at 34777.17. The Nasdaq Composite lost -8.25 points, or -0.06%, at 14023.57. The S&P 500 declined -8.92 points, or -0.2%, at 4506.85. Among the 11 major S&P 500 sectors, 8 showed negative movement, with Utilities leading the way with a -2.0% decrease.

Based on the total dividends paid out last year, KIM boasts an impressive trailing yield of 4.93% on the current share price of $18.65.
