U.S. stocks edged higher on Tuesday as investors weighed easing geopolitical tensions alongside incoming earnings and economic data. The S&P 500 rose 0.7%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.5%, and the Nasdaq Composite led the advance with a climb of over 0.8%, signaling a rebound from the recent sell-off tied to Middle East concerns.

Oil prices, however, declined from the previous session’s surge as a fragile U.S.-Iran ceasefire held despite minor clashes in the Strait of Hormuz, with Brent crude falling nearly 3% to around $111 per barrel and West Texas Intermediate dropping over 3% below $103.

Meanwhile, economic data showed the U.S. trade deficit widened by 4.4% to $60.3 billion, while job openings remained largely unchanged and layoffs ticked slightly higher.
