US stocks wavered on Friday but remained on track for weekly losses of more than 1% across the Dow, S&P 500, and Nasdaq, even after inflation data came in cooler than expected.

The Consumer Price Index rose 0.2% month over month and 2.4% year over year in January, reinforcing expectations for a potential 0.25 percentage-point rate cut in June, with most traders still pricing in two cuts by the end of 2026.

Markets stayed cautious following a sharp tech-led sell-off tied to AI disruption concerns. On the earnings front, Applied Materials jumped more than 10% on strong AI demand, while Rivian surged over 20% after an earnings beat and upbeat delivery outlook.

Moderna gained 10% on better-than-expected revenue, but Pinterest tumbled roughly 20% after missing revenue estimates, underscoring ongoing volatility in tech stocks.
