Stocks slipped on Tuesday, pulling back from Monday’s record highs, as traders reacted to a fresh wave of earnings reports and shifting trade headlines. Both the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite retreated, with cautious sentiment setting in following new data and corporate results.

As of 11:20 AM ET, the Dow was up 26.19 points, or 0.0591%, at $44349.27. The Nasdaq Composite lost -121.19 points, or -0.52%, at $23058.87. The S&P 500 declined -7.22 points, or -0.11%, to $6298.38. Among the 11 major S&P 500 sectors, 6 showed positive movement, with Health Care leading the way with a 0.83% increase.

So far, 88 S&P 500 companies have reported earnings, with over 82% beating analysts’ forecasts, according to FactSet. Still, investor focus remains on company commentary about macroeconomic certainty, AI-related spending trends, and the ongoing impact of tariffs.

Meanwhile, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent signaled that the U.S. is likely to extend its deadline for a trade agreement with China. Bessent also revealed plans to meet with Chinese officials in Stockholm next week, a development that could influence market sentiment in the days ahead.

In the current trading session, Farmer Bros. Co (FARM) jumped 20.96% to $1.64 over a previous close of $1.36 after announcing that it has initiated a process to evaluate strategic alternatives aimed at maximizing shareholder value.

Ex-Dividend Stocks

Kaiser Aluminum Corp (KALU) is about to trade ex-dividend Friday, meaning that investors who buy the stock after Friday will not be eligible for the next dividend payment. The company's next dividend payment will be $0.77 per share. It has fixed July 25 as the record date for the same and will pay the actual dividend on August 15. Last year, the company distributed a total of $3.08 to its shareholders. Based on last year's worth of payments, KALU has a trailing yield of 3.31% on the current stock price of $93.03.

Another stock that is shelling out dividends Friday is Lakeland Financial Corp (LKFN), having a market capitalization of $1.68B. It will pay a dividend of $0.5 per share, the payment date of which is August 05. Currently, the stock is trading at a trailing dividend yield of 2.97%.

Shares of Old Second Bancorporation Inc (OSBC) will be the talk of the stock market on Friday as the stock will turn ex-dividend. Last year's total dividend payments show that OSBC has a trailing yield of 1.23% on the current share price of $18.76.

Ohio Valley Banc Corp (OVBC) is also set to go ex-dividend Friday. The next dividend payment from OVBC will amount to $0.23 per share. July 25 has been designated as the record date for this dividend, with the actual payout scheduled for August 10. In the previous year, OVBC distributed a total of $0.89 to its valued shareholders. Considering the cumulative dividend payments from last year, the trailing yield for OVBC stands at 2.57% based on the current stock price of $34.65.

United-Guardian, Inc (UG) will be paying out a dividend of $0.25 per share to shareholders holding their shares as of the close of the business hours on the record date of July 25. Over the past 12 months, UG has paid out a total of $0.70 per share in dividends. Based on the total dividends paid out last year, UG boasts an impressive trailing yield of 7.32% on the current share price of $9.56.
