The S&P 500 rose on Wednesday as investors awaited the Federal Reserve's policy announcement later in the day.
The consensus view is that itβs unlikely the central bank will implement a rate cut at this meeting, though it is expected to signal a couple of cuts later in the year.
Investors are coming off a challenging Tuesday, as the market's recent sell-off intensified following two positive sessions. The Dow and S&P 500 are currently trading more than 7% and around 8%, respectively, below their recent record highs, while the Nasdaq is down over 12% from its peak.
As of 11:37 AM ET, the Dow was up 238.08 points, or 0.57256%, at $41819.39. The Nasdaq Composite added 178.619 points, or 0.91678%, at $19661.979. The S&P 500 rose 38.22 points, or 0.68072%, at $5652.88. Among the 11 major S&P 500 sectors, 8 showed positive movement, with Energy leading the way with a 1.58% increase.

Over the past 12 months, SNV has paid out a total of $1.52 per share in dividends. Based on the total dividends paid out last year, SNV boasts an impressive trailing yield of 3.24% on the current share price of $46.89.
